5 Fun Exercises Parents May Perform with Their Preschoolers in Pandemic

Children, particularly preschoolers, are continuously high on energy, and it's not possible to prevent them from jumping on the bed, rolling on the carpet, and spinning within the room. The stay-at-home restrictions in the Covid-19 pandemic have made handling the little ones more difficult. This pandemic has restricted kids from their normal school life. Lack of activities and faculty closures has put a pause on their physical activities.

  1. Star Jumps

    Let the kids squat on the ground on their haunches, then ask them to jump as high as they can. As they jump in the air, instruct them to open and stretch their arms up and to the sides. Star jumps are an ideal cardiovascular exercise.

  2. Frankenstein Walk

    This exercise is also called the walking toe touch; it is performed by walking and touching hands with toes. First, let your kid stand in a zombie posture. Now, instruct your kids to raise their right leg as high as possible and touch the right hand. Repeat the same for the other side or walk forward with these movements. This exercise for preschool children makes quadriceps, abdominal, and gluteus muscles stronger and boosts muscle endurance.

  3. Speed Skater

    This is similar to skating exercise. Make your kids stand and take big steps in front on their right side while simultaneously sweeping their left leg behind. Repeat the same steps with the opposite leg. This dynamic and vigorous full-body, exercise increases leg power and strengthens the hip joints.

  4. Inchworm

    Make your kids stand and then instruct them to touch the ground with both hands. Their hands must be near their legs. Next, ask them to walk with their hands away from their feet, as their back remains straight and their feet stationary. Repeat the workout as many times as possible. This exercise for preschoolers strengthens the front half of the body and stretches the muscles of the back half of the body.

  5. Bear Crawl

    Ask your kids to stand on their two legs and two hands. Now, let them move the right hand and the left foot forward. Next, ask them to switch sides, pushing the left hand and the right foot. This crawl movement increases muscle activities in the body, mainly the higher arms, chest, and shoulders.
